Guruvayur

I cannot precisely remember my earliest visit to this temple but I do remember my mother used to insist that we go there whenever we visit Kerala. Earliest memories are when I used to live in my mother's ancestral village, a place called Manisseri near Ottapalam in Palghat district. Me & my Mother used to walk up the way to get to a bus stop which was about two & a half KM uphill to reach the Main road. To get to Guruvayur from my mother village was a good 3 1/2 hours if we get a straight bus. Usually we hop on to the 8 am bus that goes pretty fast to take us to Guruvayur. If we are lucky we get a place to sit which makes it quite a pleasurable ride, sitting close to your mother with your eyes flying along the way staring deeply at the trees & the various sceneries.

During the Summer vacation it is customary for us to do that trip. I always remember visiting this temple with my Mother. My Father was around only during the later part of our life when we all used to visit Kerala together.
